Can Fish Oil really help my skin?

The short answer is YES!

Fish oil contains 2 types of Omega 3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. Omega 3 is the healing fat of the skin, while too much Omega 6 can make your skin red, puffy and contribute to acne. A recently published study showed that taking 3000mg daily benefits the following skin conditions: Acne, Atopic Dermatitis, Sunburn Protection, Reduction in skin flaking , Psoriasis, Reducing redness and inflammation and  Maintaining Skin Permeability.

In addition fish oil is an anti-oxidant as well as an anti-inflammatory, so it can both protect and heal. I personally am a testament to dramatic changes in my own skin. When I started researching fish oil I was my own guinea pig. I had been suffering a hormonal breakout for about 10 months. I could manage it but not get rid of it. 1 month of 3000 mg of fish oil a day and my skin has been clear ever since. We have also seen dramatic changes in a few clients as well. There are many sources of Omega 3's, Chia Seeds, Flax Seeds, Walnuts and of course oily fish like Salmon, Cod and Sardines. I take it in gel capsule form, drinking it is too gross for me, and the sweetened ones usually contain Stevia. We have one client who's skin was completely transformed by taking a liquid form of Fermented Cod Liver Oil with butter oil. Please if you are pregnant or under medical care of a professional check with them before gulping down fish oil on our recommendation.
