Bold Brows for Summer 2014

The bold brow is here to stay for summer 2014, with celebrities like Lily Collins and Cara Delevingne leading the way, a heavy brow has never been more beautiful. A defined brow can do amazing things for your face; it draws attention to your eyes and can help enhance your natural face shape. If you aren’t naturally blessed in the brow department or are a victim of over plucking from your youth, fear not, here are a few tips to achieve the brows of your dreams.

Step 1: Find your color. There’s nothing worse than a mismatched brow shade, as a rule of thumb its best to stay away from shades with red undertones. Red tones tend to appear more vividly on the brow and will look unnatural against most complexions. If you’re fair haired try a taupe shade like our Three Custom Color Specialists brow powder in 2. For darker haired girls try a medium to dark neutral brown. Stay away from true blacks, like reds these colors will draw the wrong attention to your brows.

Step 2: Experiment with textures. In recent years there’s been an influx in brow products. Experiment with which formulas work best for you and don’t be afraid to layer different textures. The most natural looking brows usually combines a couple different brow products; try our Three Custom Color Specialist Wet/Dry Brow Powder for a good combination.

Step 3: Use small strokes. Small strokes are key in creating a natural looking brow. Follow the growth of your brow hair with a thin pencil or small angled brush pulling upward with light flicks of the wrist. Avoid tracing large areas and instead fill in sparse spots with thin lines that mimic your actual brow hairs.

With these tips and techniques anyone can achieve fuller, more dramatic brows. If you’re feeling especially adventurous pair your bold brow with a bright lip, like Susan Posnick’s hot pink lipstick in Shanghai, to achieve the summer’s hottest runway look.
