Seductive Eyes

How does one create that perfect “come hither” eye? Simple! Start with a light shade (champagne or pink work well) all over the lid up to the crease of the eye lid. Feel free to really layer the light shade so that it stays put throughout your evening out. Next choose a darker shade (charcoal or mushroom give definition without being too dramatic) and line the outer half of the upper lash line and the outer half of the eye lid crease. Next you blend, blend, blend. I like to think of it like a windshield washer going back and forth.  Blend back and forth on the lash line and the crease, Make sure to keep the darker shade away from the actual lid where you placed the light shade. If you want to add a little more drama you can lightly line the bottom lash line and blend with a brush. To finish off your date night eye apply several layers of mascara and you are ready to wow the town.

Ombre, the latest trend in color!

So there is this new trend that I am seeing everywhere and it is Ombre. Whether it is hair, clothes or makeup it is all over the fashion world right now. Ombre is most simply put, a graduation is color. One of the post popular forms of Ombre is creating a graduated lip color. There are a couple ways to achieve this. The first is to fill in your lips with a lip liner. The color is up to you as long as it is a darker, deeper shade. After filling in your lips you pat translucent finishing powder onto the middle of the lip. Doing this creates that graduated look from a light shade to a deep shade on the outer parts of the lip. Happy Ombre-ing!

Looking for Kissable Lips?

To make sure that your lips are hydrated start with the Skin by Marywynn Lip Remodeling Treatment. This will boost collagen production and plump as well as break down any dry skin so that your lips are ready for color. Next line your lips with the brightening side of the Susan Posnick Concealing Stick. Line right outside of the lip line and blend out. This will define your lips nicely as well as create a barrier so that your color doesn’t travel. Lastly is applying the perfect shade of pink or red for you. My personal favorite of ours is the Armour Lip Gloss in Shattered.

Make Up Tip From Liz Correct Foundation Color

Finding Your Correct Foundation Color:

When looking for a new makeup color I always recommend matching the neck and décolletage.

A lot of times our skin color varies between our face and the rest of our body. This is because our face receives the most sun (SPF!). So if you match your face and don’t check to make sure the color matches everything else it is very easy to end up with the dreaded “line” along the jawline.

When applying makeup, make sure to always blend your makeup down your neck as well. This will also help to ensure nice even coverage.

Make up tip from Liz: Blush Application:

When applying blush it is very easy to end up with a line of color across your cheek bone. It may look nice from the front but from the side there is a very distinct line of makeup.

To avoid this I recommend only applying blush on the apple of the cheek and then blending with your fingers up and along the cheek bone.   This way you still get the color and definition without the heaviness that using a blush brush would cause.

If you would like some help with application or color selection of blush, I would love to help.

Fall is here, time to update your look.

So we winterize our cars, homes and clothing. It’s time to also winterize our make up and skincare routine.

Gone are the warm days that call for pale glossy lips and light weight hydrating lotions. It’s time for the big guns. Rich lips to go with our dark sweaters and more moisture to battle the effects of the cold air. If you need help with either of these we have answers…and then some!

Susan Posnick Make up has arrived!

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! You all know how long I have been looking for a make-up line. For 3 years I have been researching, testing and tracking down line after line in search of something special to bring to you. I think we are off to a fantastic start with Susan Posnick.

To make a long story short, years ago I gave up wearing mineral make-up and all powders. It sat in my fine lines and pores making  me look older. You know, just what everyone wants to see when looking in the mirror. Suffice it to say my arms were crossed and my ears barely open when the lovely Erin Orden walked in the door demanding that I listen to her spiel on the line. The next day after unrolling my eyes I picked up the colorflo fully intending to not like it when to my dismay a few hours later it looked great. In fact the whole week flew by with lovely looking skin and I had to call Erin and admit that humble pie tasted darn good.  Cut to the chase, the make-up is in and we all love it. The lovely Liz Jones is available to play with you on Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10-6:30 and Saturdays 9-5:30. The rest of us can dabble between clients.

One of my favorite things about this line is that it continues the treatment from the room. The anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits are quite astonishing.  A few facts on the Colorflo:  It only has 9 ingredients, that’s right 9.

  1. Micronized titanium dioxide – A natural sunblock which reflects light so UVA rays cannot absorb into skin-the best covering and whitening pigment available to lighten and brighten the skin
  2. Micronized zinc oxide – The best available sun protection from both UVA and UVB rays
  3. Iron Oxides – Pure color pigments derived from minerals, rocks and crystals-the base of most color cosmetics
  4. Boron Nitride – Acts as a natural emulsifier
  5. Mica-Provides a natural glow to the skin – it is oil absorbing and derived from quartz and mineral crystals
  6. Vitamin A – Is an Anti-oxidant with anti-aging properties
  7. Vitamin E – Prevents irritation from sun exposure, is a natural moisturizer, an anti-oxidant and assists in the prevention of sun damage
  8. Bismuth Oxychloride – Contains oil-absorbing and anti-inflammatory properties
  9. Superoxide Dismutase – A skin protector that fights the free radicals which break down the skin

Colorflo contains no fillers or powders and doesn’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles-unlike powder, it never looks dry.  The minerals meld with your natural oils and the warmth of the skin to create a clean, natural finish-like a second skin.  And saving the best for last…colorflo holds through hot flashes! Not that I know anything about that mind you. I’ve only heard from someone besides myself who happens to be going through hot flashes..oh never mind.

We have the coloflo, blush and concealers in stock. The eye shadows have been ordered and should be here this week. Come play.
